Junior High Student Ministry

Faith Community Church of Hopkinton loves teenagers! Student Ministry at Faith Community Church partners with parents to guide students in grades 7-12 to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and a greater love for others. We believe the Church is the best partner for families seeking to foster spiritual maturity in young people. Additionally, we encourage our adult Ministry Partners to build Christ-centered relationships with our students. Students in our ministry have opportunities to encounter Christ and grow spiritually through Sunday morning ministry, small groups and retreats. They serve in the church, the surrounding community and the world through service projects and missions trips.

For the Junior High Ministry (Grades 7 and 8), these include:

Sunday Mornings (September – June)
During the second worship service, from 10:45 to noon in Room 213, students gather for acoustic worship, relevant teaching, table discussions, games, and lots of movement.

Small Groups (October – May)
At least twice a month, single gender, adult-led small groups meet in people’s homes for fellowship, prayer and Bible study.

Friday Night Alive (September – May)
This fellowship event is typically held in the church gym from 7-9pm two Fridays per month and students are encouraged to bring friends. Past activities have included: Dodgeball, Capture the Chicken, Dodgeball, a Worcester Sharks Hockey game, Dodgeball, our annual campfire, and sometimes we play Dodgeball.  Friday Night Alive schedule is available at the right side of this page.

Retreats
One retreat is offered annually for Junior High students.  In January, we join our Senior High and about 150 other students from New England at Camp Berea for our winter retreat.

Summer Experience
Jr. High students go to Camp Berea each summer for a week together for an opportunity to build lasting friendships, worship with great musicians, learn from today’s hottest speakers and have a great time. Check out Berea.org for more information.

Student Fellowship and Service
In addition to the annual mission trip, we sponsor monthly fun activities.  Past events have included Amazing Race, All-Nighter, Drive-In Movie Night, and pool parties/cookouts.

World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine:
Our youth group (junior and senior high) is doing World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine March 2-3. We don’t think its right that thousands of kids are dying from hunger every day. So we’re doing something about it. We’re going without food for 30 hours to raise money so others can eat. Our students will learn about hunger and be given the chance to help save lives by raising money to feed and care for hungry kids. To top it all off, they’ll be drawn closer to God and one another as they experience hunger for themselves by going without food for 30 hours. For more details about the 30 Hour Famine, or to donate towards our group goal of $9000, go to our 30 Hour Famine webpage.
