Robert Cloutier, Pastor of Spiritual Growth Ministry

As Pastor of Spiritual Growth Ministry, I have the distinct privilege of helping connect adults into relationships for genuine belonging and support, and guiding them on a path of spiritual development, which is best for them and best for God.  I work with great teams of people toward these ends.  As the pastor who oversees pastoral services, I get invited into the great joys and sorrows of people’s lives, and get an up close and personal view when God reveals Himself.

Interesting facts about my family or me
My best friend, Linda, and I have been married for 38 years. We have three adult children. Two are still in the area and are actively involved in the church. I’ve been a pastor here for over 28 years. Linda has taught in our Christian preschool for over 20 years. We have lived in Hopkinton for 26 years.

What’s on my iPod
Dan’s music (my son writes and performs folk music, I’m a groupie), James Taylor, the Beatles, Celtic worship, hymns (old and modern); My taste is very eclectic—from classical to Christian (old and new) to jazz to light rock.

Some of my favorite books, TV shows, movies
Books: The Bible (that’s not a cop out, it’s just true), Final Rounds (the story of a son playing his final rounds of golf with his aging father)
TV shows: local sports teams, especially the Celtics
Movies: Chariots of Fire

How I like to spend my free time
Playing golf, watching sports, hanging with family, biking, being in nature.

Favorite vacation spot
Regular: White Mts (NH), Cape Cod; Not So Regular:  Bermuda and Paris.

Something I’d love to do again
Play basketball - Linda won’t let me since I blew out my knees (she’s right!).

What I enjoy about Faith Community Church
My spiritual family, who’s affirmed and helped me develop my shepherding gifts.  Being intentional and passionate about following Jesus.  Learning to love better and grow deeper together.

Favorite scripture
So many! If  forced to choose one, 2 Corinthians 5:21: “God made him [Christ] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteous of God”.  I like to refer to this as THE great transaction.  Christ gets our sin.  We get his righteousness.  What a deal!

One of my favorite “God-Moments”
Helping an elderly gentleman, in the midst of a developing friendship, commit his life to Christ.  When he passed away, his family invited me to conduct his funeral service.
