Below is a breakdown of activities offered in our Senior High Ministry (Grades 9-12):
Sunday Mornings (September – June)
During the second worship service, from 10:45 to noon in Room 214, students gather for student-led worship, relevant teaching, table discussions, occasional games and fellowship.
Small Groups (October – May)
Weekly, single gender, adult-led small groups meet in people’s homes for fellowship, prayer and Bible study.
Retreats
Two retreats are offered annually for Senior High students. In September, we head to Camp Brookwoods for our Fall Retreat with just Faith Community Church Senior High students. In January, we join our Junior High and 200+ other students from New England at Camp Berea for our Deep Freeze winter retreat.
Mission Trips
Each summer, our Senior High students go on a mission trip where we partner with local churches and ministries to reach those in need, either physically or spiritually, with the love of Christ. Recent trips have taken us to the Dominican Republic, New York, West Virginia, Jamaica, New Orleans, and San Francisco.
From June 30-July 7, 2012, the Sr. High Mission Team will travel to Grafton, West Virginia, to serve in the community in partnership with World Servants (worldservants.org) and local churches. Trip registration runs from January 8 – February 5, and will kickoff with an information meeting for leaders, students and parents on Sunday, January 8, in the chapel following second service.
To register for this year’s trip, please follow the link on the right “WV Mission Trip Info & Registration”.
Student Fellowship & Service
In addition to retreats and the annual mission trip, we sponsor regular group activities. Recent special events have included a cookout, campfire, All-Nighter, Yankee Swap, Movie Night, Ultimate Frisbee, Cook-Off competition, Air Band contest, Olympics, Night of Worship and more. Opportunities to serve have included working at the Salvation Army, Project Just Because, Boston Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, as well as tornado cleanup, yard raking, moving, painting and more.
World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine:
Our youth group (junior and senior high) is doing World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine March 2-3. We don’t think its right that thousands of kids are dying from hunger every day. So we’re doing something about it. We’re going without food for 30 hours to raise money so others can eat. Our students will learn about hunger and be given the chance to help save lives by raising money to feed and care for hungry kids. To top it all off, they’ll be drawn closer to God and one another as they experience hunger for themselves by going without food for 30 hours. For more details about the 30 Hour Famine, or to donate towards our group goal of $9000, go to our 30 Hour Famine webpage.
